I inadvertently discarded the lightweight coil spring for my inertia starter pinion drive.  Can someone suggest a source for  same?

Thx.

Check eBay item:  261629842013

The listing says "3 watching".  Are you one of them?

EDIT:  Also see eBay item 350723792365

Doug, thanks for the fast reply.  No I wasn't, but you've solved my problem!

I received the spring I thought I was missing and attempted to assemble the starter.  In doing so I noted that what appears to be the same square-sectioned spring inside the pinion assembly.  Is the spring inside the pinion assembly the one shown in the drawing above, and did I not lose the spring?  Are both light coil springs required for assembly?

Good question.  I simply don't remember and cannot answer your question.

Without a spare starter to disassemble all I can suggest is to review exploded diagrams such as the one shown in the link below.

Only one light spring is required. It is located inside the pinion assembly and cannot be removed without pinion dissasembly.

Thank you AC.

Doug, the drawing you provided appears to be of a different starter.  I don't recall seeing a tapered spring, and items I, J and G don't match any parts from my starter.

I'm going to reassemble as per AC's instruction, and I'll not install the NOS spring I purchased.

Fair enough.  I haven't worked on a Bendix unit in several years so my memory of its internal bits is vague at best.  Trust AC and his advice.
