Tried to tax my Mini 2 nights ago and again this morning, all I get is a message saying I need to go to a post office with new keepers slip due to recent change of car ownership!

I'm the new keeper of the car and recieved the logbook last week, surely their systems should be updated if they've sent me the logbook????

So now I have to pay in full rather than using the direct debit option, which I'd prefer to do, basically pay as you go which will come in handy, say if it needs to come off the road for a while at any point!

Anyone else had any bother with anything like this?

Pretty sure you can pay direct debit at the post office

I taxed a car on the driveway just after buying it .
Online and with the new keeper slip you just add the 12 digit doc ref number and the make of the car
Job done

If you are already the new keeper and have the v5c in your name I guess the new keeper section will not work as this has a different doc ref number from the main v5c doc ref number.
So if you tax it with the new keeper section when the old keeper sends off the v5c to change it into your name the tax will remain to the new keeper and any old tax will be returned to the former keeper .

Think I'll have to ring them because it says to take the new keepers slip to the post office every time I try, but that doesn't make sense to me as it's in my name now so technically I should be able to tax it online. Nothing ever straight forward with dvla!
