Sounds daft, but I have a stubborn wheel stud cover that will not come of......it should be a two second job to remove these prior to undoing the wheel stud, but not the case I have tried small pri bars and pliers and bare hands with no luck.....any body had this issue before? and any ideas?

Thread title edited to say "nut cover" instead of "stud cover".

They don't need to be taken off.

Only thing is if you don't take the covers off the nuts then they get marked/damaged by the spanner. So OP needs to take them off to avoid this damage I assume. Also as he says normally pull off easily with hand.
OP try plus gas and a little patience, then try again.

Try using a 6 sided 11/16" socket and the cover dose not have to come off or get damaged .

The covers do look like they come off but they don't its how there are made for the late type coopers.

summit like this http://www.ebay.co.u...=item43c5be5cc3

Do not use the metric equivalent as you will damage the cover.

Hi thanks for the advice, I'm currently giving them a little soak with some penetrating fluid to see if it loosens them, I did attempt to undo the nuts with thee covers in situ but the covers make the nut just a little larger than a 17mm dia, first time ever I have had this issue.

No, the covers make the nuts 11/16". They aren't covers, they are part of the nut and should not be removed. With the chrome cap off the nuts are no particular size. Once they have been removed the nuts invariably corrode underneath and then the chrome cap expands and deforms. Then you have to hammer a socket on them to turn them.
