Hi everybody

Have you guys seen these Mini inspired watches from a company called REC Watches? The metal dials used in the watches is taken from old Mini wrecks and then every timepiece is stamped with the VIN number from the recycled car used! You even get a small brochure relaying the history of Mini and the car that was used in producing the watches.
What do you guys think of the idea and concept ?

Honestly, I think it's a bizarre concept.  I'd rather buy a watch on based on its quality, not the fact that a small part of it is made from recycled material from a type of car that I like.

Like Matt says, it's a bit odd. if it were made from a bit of my car it'd be different.  Maybe.  LIke Will says, and to misquote that gameshow, "the price isn't right."

They're not expensive, though.  Not for a decent watch. I just think that recycling a bit of old car and stamping the VIN number onto the watch is a bit of an odd attempt at cashing in on the classic car market and the popularity of the Mini.  BUT, that's only my opinion.

For a decent watch no, this watch would probably rust in 4 days ;)

Anyway I see your point

Minis don't rust, they gently age by returning themselves back into the ground.

£250 - £290.  Not that bad price wise if they're decent quality.

Great feedback so far thanks!

with regards to the price and quality of the watch I can of cause only say its a pretty good deal!

Considering the fact that it features a handcrafted recycled metal dial made from a classic Mini, with corresponding VIN on the caseback. The metal dials have of cause been treated thoroughly to make sure the watches last longer then the car. :P

You get two different straps: one made of leather and a nato strap to mix and match, spice it up, whatever you like!

You get a decent movement with an approximately 3 year battery life on it, so all in all I think its a bargain!

Ooh and of cause every watch is absolutely visually unique and has a great story behind it !

Right, hang on. Are these your watches? Or are they being made by someone else and you'd just seen them?

If they're yours, and you're trying to advertise them, then you need to register as a trader on here.

I like the concept if you're a massive mini memorabilia collector...
