Hi all,

I searched but wasnt able to find a definitive up to date answer on this so...

I would like to replace the interior light on my 1993 Open Classic with something a bit brighter.

Is there a led bulb or led unit that is a straight swap? Would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thank you,
James

Yes straight swap, I think they use a festoon bulb. Can get them from ebay cheaply. Only thing to bear in mind I leds only work one way round so if you fit it and it doesn't work just turn the bulb roun.

Yes. Original 5w 12v festoon bulb can be replaced directly with LED - just search for LED 12v interior festoon..

I had a look at my interior light today and took the photo below. It doesn't look like the bulbs you guys have kindly have recommended would work with this type.

Any ideas from anyone? Looking for the 'quick win' if there is one!

Thanks.

Like I said before, then later deleted as I was pretty much ignored. An led bulb isn't a direct replacement for the later interior light. The bulb only fits one way and as standard the interior light is wired to have two earth and one live. You can however fit one (I just have in my 25 project thread page 11) you just need to do a simple bit of rewiring and solder and extra wire to the end of the led bulb itself.

If your lamp base looks like one of the adaptors then yes. You cant go far wrong, to be honest buy any 12v COB panel with a diamention to fit inside the housing and use two crimp connectors to hook it up. Job done.
