So, the distibuter in my 1275 has an oil leak through the shaft. Thought I had cured the problem but it still leaks.
The engine is an a+ 1275 with ultralite flywheel hif6 carb but camshaft unknown.
Distributer is 41768 A 45D4 no vacuum with luminition fitted.

I've had a rough quote to rebuild this distributer but at £180 plus vat it seems pointless
Could anyone recomend me a distributer for my engine as I'm looking at loads and there is a huge diference in price range and to be honest I'm pretty clueless in this department.

I have used the accuspark ones and they work well, not sure what range of advance curves they have though. Might be worth a call.

a 123 dizzy will have 16 programed curves in you just need to know if its for an A-series or an A+ with or without vac advance

It is a bit of a pig with the engine being such and unknown.
It came out if a mk2 rally car and I had the full intention of sending it off for a rebuild when I got it but when we took the head off it still had honing marks in the bores and a mechanic and a local engine builder were pretty sure it hadn't long been rebuilt.
It runs lovely and sounds a little but not to cammy on tickover but that could be the ultralight flywheel maybe.
The history file that came with the car the engine came out of did state it was a longman unit but just because there is a plate on the rocker doesn't mean it's the real deal.

That would be ideal but £300 odd notes might hurt a bit.

Try a Aldon Yellow with vacuum advance

That's what I had on a previous car and never had any troubles with it.
A bit more in my price range too.
So would that do away with the luminition gear that I have in the car at the moment.?

If your luminition fits the Aldon Base Plate use it.

For the money, I'd buy one of those Lucas copies that are so cheep (but have curves all over the shop :whistling: ), lock out the centrifigal advance, and fit up an Acuspark Stelth black box, then you can optimise your curve and if you change your engine spec down the track, you can easily change the curve again to suit. For a road car that has an SU Carb, I would recommend one with a vac advance.

Found this last night lucas 41768 59d4 new unused. £39 asking price.
Looking online it says for 1275 gt 1973 onwards.
Worth it?
If it gets me going I can alway upgrade to the aldon at a later date when funds allow.
