So here's my 1992 mini i bought off my brother to help him out with a financial issue and also put my NCD on so that i didn't lose it. I did a very stupid thing of not looking at it closely before I handed over my cash.
My initial plans were take the stickers off, tidy the paintwork up and sort the interior out,

After having my last mini on 13x7's I knew that 10 inch wheels were the way forward so they were purchased along with a minisport brake conversion.

The next thing was to start stripping it down, get the awful stickers off and take the windows out.

Upon investigation the fibreglass front was a mile off ever fitting well and i sensed that there were quite a few patches of filler about that needed addressing. I made the decision that it should go back to being steel and work started.
The first bodge was found when taking the loose feeling scuttle off to look what the problem is. The problem was that it was just fillered at the top and clipped along the seam with trim clips. Lovely and safe.

The metal was cleaned up, refitted but this time solidly welded complete with the corner pieces to stop ingress of water etc.

Front end getting there...

...and done

Then it was time to make it around to the rear of the car to investigate the crack on the de-seamed rear valance and the bit of rust in the boot floor.
Chopping it out found that there was a lot of filler and not a lot of weld...

Keeping going with the chisel found that the shell, the boot floor and the rear valance were not welded in any way, shape or form. This was chopped out and then seam welded properly.

The boot floor was then appropriately plated and the rest of it checked out for integrity

Welding complete it is then on to sorting out some paint preparation. Trying to sand it back, it was difficult to find solid paint so the decision was made to strip it (easier said than done). I have found nearly 7 different colours on this car equating to a few mm thick of paint!

Next job, trim the front panel for clearance and get the wheel arches test fitted.
