To be honest the rear end was shot the only panel I saved was the seat back and that was 50/50

Thats why i chopped it up, i didnt want to do another restoration on that scale, so i got out the disc cutter. I recognise the seat back due to the colour, good to see some use came of it. I couldnt even get 50 quid for the shell with logbook so i managed to make 100 quid chopping it up into three bits!

Not bad for a car i paid £150 for! best of luck with this, hope to see it roadworthy again as the previous owner had good plans for it.

been busy this week so only a bit done.
all new radius arms well apart from the hub and arm them selves every thing else is new.
and with a wheel on just because i had it at work already and couldnt resist
managed to get the other side of the boot floor in and the valance closing panel
also got the spare wheel problem sorted out (well half of)
then low and behold ran out of bloody gas again these bottles really do take the piss don't seem to last long enough surely there must be a better way
this is what im using at mo will go across to the correct section and inquire
all comments welcome

We do Hobbyweld in the Cheltenham area. 188 agents in the uk so bound to be someone local. :) £60 deposit and then all you ever do is pay for the gas. One cylinder is about 27 of the little ones.
Co2 argon mix will last about 2-3 hours of welding and pure co2 would last about 6 or 7 but the quality of the weld is lower.
Looks like an awesome project. Similar to what I am going to have to do but need to get to my rear wheel arches.
I agree here I have been using hobby weld for about a year. It's convenient and won't break the bank. Tried those little gas bottles few years ago and found they would run out to quickly. The hobby weld one last ages just remember to turn the gas off when your finished I have made that mistake nothing worse than firing up your welder and realising there is no gas.Those bottles will cost you a fortune and the regulators are rubbish. Not sure where you can get your gas from but upgrading to a decent argon / co2 bottle with a dual dial regulator will instantly improve your welding due to bettef flow of shielding gas. It'll also be better for your wallet. Try Hobbyweld for local suppliers if you can't get it through work. Other guys use different gas mixes or just co2, but it's just what suits you really.

well i treated myself to a present today.
can you guess what it is yet????????????????????
thats it, its a 1275cc mini cooper spi engine with everything bolted to it minus alternator.
i will be pulling every thing of it as i will run it on a hif44 carb i do not like injection.
i picked it up tonight at 8 from a member on here very nice bloke cheers Will

well had the day of today and as the weather is bad hear no time to get on the car its self so brought some goodies instead and also stipped what i didnt want of the engine.
the complete SPI set up will be getting put in the for sale section as soon as i figure out what its worth.
hopefully this will do me now no more stupid bottles.
also got all the spi stuff of the engine.
the engines seem so much smaller with it taken of aswell
just gotta tri and find out exactly what i have now. as in head valve size and diff set up.

well my last day of today back at work tomorrow. again poor weather halted plans to weld up the rear so popped out to Argos and brought a toy for the engine thought is deserved a splash about.
at lease this way it doesn't make to much of a mess and easier to contain.
good scrub with de-greaser and a soak the wash of with break cleaner and a tooth brush to get in all the places
and this is what i was left with
any way hope to get on the sell at the week end but again going to have to see if Mr weather man will let me

One gauge is for the fill pressure and should read 2000 if the bottle is filled correctly, and the other gauge is flow rate.
set the flow rate to zero by screwing the flow knob right in and then pull the trigger on your handset and slowly unwind the knob until you have a gentle hiss of gas from your nozzle.
When i weld indoors, i have the flow set very low but when outside where there might be a breeze, i turn the flow up a bit more.
