Need help on center speedo wiring

I used to have 2 clock wiring but I now need to convert to center speedo any help or guidance out there

I know there are guides out there but none of them are decent enough to copy and one shows wiring on a none genuine smiths speedo and he makes his own loom

Thanks

I was going to buy the conversion loom but I don't really need to I have a loom

I'm in the process of converting my 97 mpi to centre speedo. The colour of all the wires are exactly the same except the mpi instrument illumination is different and the mpi has some extra wires e.g. alarm led

I would suggest getting a wiring diagram for your car and write down all the colours and hopefuly they will match your new clocks mine certainly do and my centre clocks are 30+ years old.

I purchased all my new cable from polevolt including an 8-way male/female connector to join the new loom I'm making to the car loom.

You'll need a new speedo cable that screws in both ends and the speedo will probably need calibrating to suit your wheel size and final drive otherwise it won't display the correct speed.

I'm happy to share pictures of my progress but it won't be complete for a while.

So if you don't want to buy a loom and you don't want to make a loom how will you make this happen? You understand people aren't talking about a complete wiring loom here don't you? It's just an extension as the original offset instrument harness doesn't have enough cable to be able to comfortably wire up a centre speedo without chopping back all the loom tape and re-arranging it where it comes through the bulkhead. All these looms are is a short extension, about 2 feet long. Or do you mean you already have a centre speedo loom? If so you just need to connect it all up as per the wiring diagram.

To add. The pre made loom isn't bad value and you'll know it will work. I've spent £20 on cable and connectors to make my own extension.

I already had wiring on my centre clocks but I still needes to refernence a wiring diagram. What exactly are you asking for help on?

What im saying is my clock has got a loom already fitted to it so I don't need to buy one all I need to do is cut the plug off it and connect the wire from the clock to my car loom ..

And dan were can I get both diagrams from (my car) and a center clock diagram thanks

All the diagrams are in Haynes, but all you should have to do is match colour to colour, the colour code is the same for all years. If you find any differences you can ask us. Cut off the multi clock plug with a decent tail so it can be reused and you'll be able to sell it as they are not available.
