Does anyone know if there are suspension knuckles with different thickness bar where they slot in to the trumpets or hilos? I know there are ones with built in spacers and those without for when 12" wheels were fitted but are there ones with different thicknesses as I have two types here ones thinner than others but don't know where they have come from?

Mini sport use their own modified versions that are slightly thicker for their own brand hi-lows/adjustarides.

Some of the non genuine ones seem a mite larger. Certainly don't fit into the hydro stuff, but the genuine ones do..

I've found quite a few of the aftermarket ones are inconsistant and anything from 0.003 undersize to 0.005 oversize.

No. Or rather, they aren't meant to be.

MAYBE THIS HELPS:

SUSPENSION KNUCKLE FRONT ONLY 1990 ON         GSV1264             FRONT ONLY

OEM knuckle joint. These joints are complete with the knuckle, nylon cup and rubber boot.Sold individually.

If your suspension has dropped suddenly, or you have a loud squeeking noise during suspension movement, then these knuckles are one of the first things you should check. If left unchecked, the knuckle can wear through the nylon cup, into the suspension arm, and ruin the casting that supports the knuckle joint. Much cheaper than changing arms.

This knuckle has a spacer (4.3mm) built into it for use on 1275cc 1989 onwards minis to increase grond clearance. When 12" wheels wer fitted in 1984 they used a packing washer 21A1845 to increase height but to save suspension height disasters they introduced this new knuckle

SUSPENSION KNUCKLE JOINT    GSV1118MS    Fits front and rear except later cars 1990 onwards

In 1984 when the Mini was put onto 12" wheels as standard several small details were changed. One was to include a thick washer under the knuckle joint (21A1845) to raise the suspension a little in order to gain wheel clearance and suspension travel.

Is it the shank diamater you're having trouble with or the two types as Mini Mad has pointed out?

From what I can determine, the GSV 1264 was fitted to lift the front of the later Minis a little as they were fitted with more 'junk' and so were heavier on the front end.  Knuckle for Knuckle, they'll raise the front end by 20 mm.

The non genuine ones I've seen problems with are problematic on the diameter of the shaft. They just don't fit into some bits.

I'm running the genuine spaced ones onto hydro car to help cope with the lamp bar and sump guard et al
