Sorry for all the question's, this one has confused me and the bloke at the local spares shop!

I'm trying to find a new pair of knuckles that will fit the adjust-a-rides that are going on my rear subframe. I ordered a standard set but the shaft of the knuckle is just too small and wobbles about in the adjustaride 'trumpet.'



Now the confusing bit is that one of the old knuckles (one on the left in pic) that I pulled out of a standard trumpet fits the adjust-a-ride fine! You can see that it's bigger (about 1.5mm bigger). The new knuckle fits a standard trumpet fine.

Do i need special knuckles? Is the knuckle I pulled out of the old trumpet standard? Can I use that old one, its not exactly worn...

Any info guys?

can no-one help Pooky? Do i have to go back to normal trumpets?

Use the old knuckle in the new cup and make sure you grease them well. Shouldn't be a problem as its usualy the cup that wears, not the knuckle. Id advise anyone fitting new knuckles to wipe of that garbage they call grease and use some Moly grease anyway.

It does sound very odd though. What adjustable trumpets are they? maybe they are specific tho that type alone. I have never come across this in all my years, very confusing.

where did you buy the knuckle from? and have you got proper mini sport adjusta rides, or a cheaper set of generic hi lo's?

cheapo knuckles and trumpets don't fit so good

I thought that the minisport adjusta rides kits come with new knuckles?

Well mine did anyways.

The old knuckles are off the adjustable trumpets ( i think Pooky is using the name Adjusta rides as a general description rather than which ones he has exactly)

The old knuckle does not fit the original factory fit trumpet but the new one does. The new knuckle is a very loose in the old adjustable trumpets.

Irrespective of MiniSport Adjustarides coming with new knuckles, there is a difference in the fittment of these knuckles and pooky is trying to fit new knuckles in old adjustable trumpets.

I think I cleared that up

Here's the adjustarides (i think they're geniuine as they say MiniSport Adjustarides on them )

I don't think i'll be able to use the old knuckles as only one of them will fit in the rod properly!

Sigh Maybe if i contact mini sport they'll have some knuckles that will fit?

How can you tell which are geniune knuckles or not? I bought a set off eBay (prob not genuine) then went to a local motor factors who had exactly the same sort.

. 'Proper' Minisport Adjust-A-Rides, that's a laugh. They are of course a copy of the original Hi-Lo which is licenced by Mini Spares. Adjust-A-Rides are the original cheap nasty adjustable suspension trumpet copy!

Anyhow....

How old are these Adjust-A-Rides? Until a couple of years ago Mini Sport always advertised that you needed special knuckles for their Adjust-A-Rides. Now they don't so I'm guessing that normal knuckles will now fit new ones but if these are a few years old this might be why you needed special joints at the time. I never actually knew what the difference was but this could be the answer.

Ahh! Yeah I have no idea how old these are as they cam off a subframe I bought.

Just thought I'd let you know, I phoned MiniSport and asked them, and they said yes they would need specific knuckles which they stocked a fraction dearer than standard ones.

At least I can use the hilo's i got cheap
