That is a very nice exhaust system and is ideal if you have a 1275 and intend to do further improvements later, such as improved head & cam.

Highly recommended.

I put one on my newly-rebuilt 1275 (basic street tune) connected to a LCB exhaust header, and love it - sound is great and the performance is lovely. I did use a slightly richer needle in my twin-SU carbs through due to the fact that my version is straight-through with no cat.  --Matt

Oh right I've got a set of Twin Hs2s to go on when I get around to build them up I've just fitted a rebuild kit to them both and currently got GY needles fitted but as I said haven't got around to fitting them to car yet might be after new year before I do and get it on a rolling road. what needles do you have in yours? cheers

My SUs are currently running "M" needles. The mixture was almost perfect at the default 12 flats down from flush, and acceleration is snappy with no hesitation or bogging anywhere. I'm planning on having a proper tune done with an oxy sensor in the tailpipe though when the weather gets warm - the carb builder recommended swapping to a slightly leaner "AN" needle if needed, so I just ordered both and have them as back-ups at the moment,

Hope this helps...

How quiet do you want it to be?

The Maniflow I have (center-exit, single port) is actually pretty quiet. Maybe a tad louder than the side-exit stock unit, but not at all annoying, shrill, or growly (at least at idle; I'm inside when I'm accelerating and can't really tell). It's definitely got a bit more of an audible "punch" at the low end, though - I personally really like it. And best of all, it mounted right up - all I needed to do was drill a pair of small holes in the center of the rear sub frame - fitment was PERFECT into the LCB.

Let me know if you need/want any pics. Good luck!  -Matt

Yeah I prefer the maniflow systems to the RC40s and I know theyre a good quality brand so really looking forward to fitting it. Does it really matter if I fit the exhaust before I fit the carbs or does this have to be done at the same time ? cheers

I fitted mine several weeks before I did the carbs - LOTS easier to get the rear manifold nuts situated with the carbs off, I think (it was for me, anyway - with the carbs on, I simply couldn't reach the center nuts AT ALL).

Also, do yourself a favor and get the extra-long brass nuts to secure the exhaust and intake manifolds on the back of the block - they make things so much easier. These are the ones I used:

Yeah I've already got new bolts, gaskets etc. I was thinking do I just buy the full kit with the manifold and air filter and just run my HIF38 carb that's already on the car and fit the twin HS2s next year then I've always got a fully working replacement with the HIF38.

Just another question will the full stage kit sound "tinny" or like a deep mellow sound ?
