I might buy a stage 3 head for my 998, would this work as a bolt on, or should I consider up-rating other components?
I currently have a fresh engine, with stage 1 kit, LCB exhaust, RC40 with one silencer.
Thanks

Hi, not sure what you would need to do from a strength and integrity point of view, although I can't see it causing a dramatic increase in loads.
But, in order to maximise the benefits of the uprated cam, you should look into changing the cam and potentially the rockers to allow the engine to breathe more efficiently, then you will want to look at performance dizzies etc. to extract the most out of the new head.

It depends on what 'Stage 3' actually means as it is not a defined specification.
You need to state valve sizes, combustion chamber volume/C.R., etc.

Well its a mini sport head.
What i'm asking is that, if I bolted it to a standard 998, would the increases in flow and slight increase in power cause problems, or failures?

Bolting the head on just on its own will give a better flow if its been ported correctly, but that will mean some trial and error or a rolling road to get the best from it to set the carburation. the bhp increase wont be massive and will need a change of camshaft to something like a 266 to see a bigger difference. you could fit the head now and then when rebuild time comes insert a camshaft to reap the full benefit of the head
