nearly finished re building my 97 sportspack cooper and today put new steering wheel on (direct replacement for old one)and now horn doesnt work and airbag light stays on!!!!
has anyone got a clue as to why this is?

why disconnect batt?

when u remove air bags the battory on a rover mini should be disconnected for 10 minutes before removal/refit, if not it fault codes the ecu and then it all needs to be reset with a dianositics tool i am afraid.

its worth purchasing the rover tec cd from people on ebay for around 5quid it dont half save the hassle


to solve u might belucky and if u diconnect battory for 10 minutes, and reconect it might clear the code

You disconnected an airbag without draining the power out of the SRS ECU first!?!?!?!

You're 'kin lucky you didn't kill yourself mate, don't go playing with explosives like that. There's easily enough charge inside an airbag to kill you if you're too close when it goes off. For gods sake get yourself a manual and follow it.
