Just received my pack of 5 mg rover oil filters, now first off they said made in Poland which is prob where most stuff is made but I compared them to a new unipart filter I had and both internally and externally they look identical, would it be sinical for me to think the mg rover ones are just a rebranded filter

Which are probably just re-branded WIX ones... which are also made in Poland.

Depends what you mean by genuine...

If you mean made using the original tooling or under license, then not everything came out of a unipart factory.

Would you consider a FRAM filter any different to a UNIPART, ROVER or WIX they are all recognised brands,

The difference is when traders are passing off unbranded imports as 'the real thing'

I would consider genuiene as a product that's under license or using the original tooling, I would not consider a unipart filter genuiene

What you have to understand about filters on vehicles no matter which company it is, car manufactures do not actually produce the filters. Filters are contracted out to filter manufacturers who subsequently put the vehicle manufacturer's part numbers on them.

If you don't consider Unipart genuine would you consider genuine for MG Rover?

Well I bought "genuiene" mg rover ones, it's like owning a modern day Vw or Honda if you took it to a dealer they would put a manufacturer branded part on

Unipart haven't been the genuine parts supplier since shortly after the end of production. That's why it says MG Rover on it not Unipart. It comes from X-Part but as said above will have been made by a filter manufacturer.
