Whilest my engine is out and apart, I'm changing my oil pump too ( some people advised that).

Now; wich oil pump to go for? I know I need a slot drive that fits a 998 cc mini, but is there a real difference between KENT pumps and the 'unipart/minispares/minisport' oil pumps?

Or is it just the KENT logo you're paying for?

cheers

The standard item should be fine. They all flow enough to need a relief valve, unless you're adding extra demand with a turbo. More dosh may buy you a slight efficiency improvement, but it won't be the best value one. Especially if you consider the hammering all A Series pumps can get sucking up unfiltered oil, that's why fitting new is always worthwhile when the opportunity arises..

The current batch of MiniSpares ones seem to be very well made and nicely within tolerance. No need for a high capacity one on a road car.
A couple of months ago MiniWorld ran an ACDodd workshop on oil pumps - well worth a read.

You could get a copy on back issue or download an e-reader copy.
