7.5s with a remote servo setup on mine on 10s really good.

 

8.4s you either have to run 12s or machine the discs down

Can you machine discs and leave original calipers intact?

If you machines the discs the mounting points for the caliper would have to change. Also a minor issue would be how much of the pad is left in contact with the disc. Probably not of huge importance but something to consider.
