I've been trying to find information for a suitable replacement to the fuel filter I no longer have the original filter connections but rubber injection fuel lines.
I popped in halfords today and compared many to their on the shelf Mini Cooper filter, I have managed to find one that will fit the original filter bracket with the connections to put the rubber hose directly to it.
Filter code HFF204
Will have to keep an eye on it but is a perfect fit

Mk1 mx5 fuel filters have simple pipes for pushing fuel line onto. They are only about a fiver too.

When I replaced mine the OEM filter had seized so I removed the inlet and outlet pipes and replaced them with flexis and a push fit filter, and if I'm reading your post correct this is what you've done. The filter I used was a Coopers FIAAM filter reference FT5207, originally for a Vauxhal Astra. Filts well in the existing filter bracket as it's very close to the original dimensions.
