Ok so as you all know iv just got my mini back and am putting it back together.....and im a lil stuck!

Im trying to put the heater matrix back inside and it looks so simple but every time i try i keep messing up! i geet the two threads hook on the back and you bolt it into the dash rail but how do i put the long rubber pipe that goes into the engine on the left side so its not in the way as at first i thought it just bent up and went ontop of the heater but it looks like it bends too much so the water wont flow, and also how does the other one go?

Does anyone have pics and step by step guide please as im not the best person to be putting this mini back together but god dam im trying lol xXx

This always seemed a bit of a factory bodge up on some Mini's, possibly something to do with left and right hand drive options maybe......the later 1992 on heater matrix has the inlet and outlet pipes on the passenger side footwell (RH Drive) so the pipes go straight into the heater without going over the top and bending round (otherwise you need the special pre-formed pipes to avoid kinks)......it is possible to switch the earlier matrix around yourself inside the casing with a bit of ingenuity in order to simplfy the pipe runs straight into the most convienient side of heater as I have done.

Also on the 1992 on heaters, each pipe comes out of the side of the casing and turns upwards through a right angle; on pre-1992 heaters the pipes simply point straight out of the side of the casing.

So i was right then but it just seems that the water wont flow when i do it, what i will do is try and if it seems to be causing the matrix problems i will figure something out lol x

Don't know if this could be your problem, but I have a later type one where the hoses both enter on the passenger side of the heater box. Had it out recently to replace the fan, and when I put it back in I could NOT get the hoses to reach, couldn't figure it out then I noticed that there are actually two positions that you can hook the threaded rods into on the bracket - an upper and lower position. I had ended up in the lower position and so the hoses didn't quite reach. Just in case your bracket is the same and you're in the lower position, could make the hoses kink more as they enter the heater box (I am assuming in your case they have to go from vertical to horizontal as they enter the box).
