Hi guys,

I have got hold of another gearbox for my mpi because the one on it is starting to pop out of gear, managed to get hold of an spi one, which has been rebuilt in the past, hiwever I don't have much information in it,

Did well with the first strip down and everything looks pretty good to be honest, nothing seems to strike out at me but maybe I'm looking at the wrong things,

Anyone help? Should I put pictures up after it's all clean etc?

Are there parts that should definantly always been changed, I'm trying to budget it as best I can.

Thanks

Craig.

By no means definitive, however, I'd suggest replacing the following as a minimum;-

All needle roller bearings

2nd gear baulk ring

All 6 springs in the synchro hubs

Diff pin, planent gears and all thrusts

Probably 1st / 2nd Selector fork - just check when buying new though as many we've received are out of spec, right out of the box!

All gaskets and seals (of course)

However, while it's in bits, check everything and anything that is remotely suspect, I'd replace.

In regards to buying new selector forks, I'd suggesting takeing the hubs down with you and checking them on the counter. I'll add that the ones I've been getting from Somerfords I haven't had an issue with.
