Some companies won't even ship to the Isle of Man never mind Europe! Smiffy's Bits for instance. Others insist on expensive couriers, you can tell all you like that Royal Mail come here every day. :(

True. What I found hard to understand when buying MTB bits ChainRecation cycles in NI could ship stuff faster and cheaper than places in Sweden.

It's not racism at all, it's cost. I have a few friends who live on the Isle of Wight and they can't get items delivered from a few suppliers and when ask why their told it's the extra cost of the postage. So what I do I go over to the Isle of Wight twice a year. They place the orders, get them sent to my place and i take them over to them. Is this something that you can arrange???

Cost shouldn't be a problem imo. I always calculate the royal mail shipping costs for the seller, and as I am paying fo rit, it shouldn't be a problem at all..

I used to but gave up in the end. Most of the time its as people about have said. I waste my time weighing and contacting a couple of courier services to get quotes on things, only for the buyer to moan about cost, try and haggle or just not bother responding. I gave up because it ended up me wasting my time for the sake of it. I'm not saying everyone is like that before I get moaned at, it has been my experience. I happily ship abroad now but only if the buyer arranges quotes and collections. :-)

The things the guys are saying about people being interested in buying until they find out the costs are true, but I have found that if people are asking they usually have an idea of the costs already.  My issues have been more to do with the fact that most couriers offer no form of tracking once the item leave s the UK. This has lead to the "I never received the item" emails followed by the "prove you sent it or refund" demands. Unfortunately it's a case of a minority spoiling it for the good guys. I'll send abroad but I try to make sure I'm covered first (proof of postage, payment received in advance, good buyer feedback or reputation etc.)
