The battery should not spark if you connect the negative ( - ) cable first and then the positive ( + )  last which, is the correct procedure, a good job you didn,t connect them like that when you had the fuel leak, otherwise November the fifth 2015 would of come early........ :ohno:

are you sure neg first is correct? I ve always been told negative off first and on last. Cant remember the reason behind it but made sense at the time.

what year mini is it? If its an earlier one check the starter solenoid is earthing correctly on the inner wing. Later ones have the solenoid on the starter so make sure all the wires are connected properly

I thought you were meant to connect the positive first, then the negative meaning if you touch the bodywork when tightening the positive you don't short it.

My apologies for misleading info, got it wrong way round ( brain storm ) or too many whiskies.

Have slapped myself on the wrist for this.....  SORRY.

A multimeter will help you find the fault a lot quicker but if there's no power at all (assuming the battery is ok) then my first guess would be a fuse. Next check connections, make sure its grounded properly etc.

No no power before, but iv now worked it out, the two wires that come from the battery into that thing attached to the wing was the wrong way round lol so now i have power but now found out the fuel pump isnt pumping so were just taking it all apart to fix that now then got to play around with the fuse box lol x
