Hey All,

1st of all, apologies if this has been posted before, if so please point me in the right direction,

I need a new battery for my mini and not sure what to get.

Its a 1979 850cc.

Im not sure on what the 'rules and regs' are on batteries, can I just get any old thing or does it have to be specific?

It only gets used once or twice a fortnight so needs to have a half decent lifespan on it.

So any pointer / suggestions appreciated.

Much ta :)

Or any 075 battery. I got the cheaper one at £50 and it's fine

(075s are an upgrade in size, cranking power etc, much better than a standard battery, fits in the tray perfectly)

An 063 is also perfectly capable. I use an 063 after my 075 died and it spins my high compression 1330 over fine and runs all the electronics ok.

Whats the difference between them?

I can see one has higher Amp Hours & Cold Cranking Amps,

What does that mean?

CCA - cold cranking amps are the figures that matter really. Well that and the dimensions as to whether it fits.

The 075 I posted has 600 CCAs, where as the halfords 063 has 360 CCAs

It's the amount of current it can provide on start up in cold conditions. Which is handy for the winter! 600 is over kill... but always nice to be able to start first click in the winter

15yr old Rover battery still doing mine fine.  Started it at the weekend after sitting unstarted for 4months and no bother at all!  :D

However, when the battery died on my Integra, I fitted a Yuasa one with 5yr guarantee and epic starting power.  Get yourself to Costco or Halfords with a trade card and save some pennies!

Check what carparts4less do them for .. I've always found them the cheapest and if it still works their SAVEME75 voucher knocks another 7.5% off!
