Hi guys,

I was asking myself how hard and expensive is to make classic mini 4WD with the engine in link below, and with carbon shell ( link below ) with standard 5-speed KAD manual gearbox?

engine:  http://www.twinkam.c...aid=SCE001.110

shell:  http://www.absmotors...il#.VIeKcovF_FI

Manny thanks, Jure

If I will put a rear roll cage in the carbon shell would then be possible to make it 4WD?

I've been working on (and off!) a 4WD Moke for myself for some time now.

The Gearbox is a fairly simple conversion, I've done one already but further refining it for my own.

The Rear Diff too is (comparitively) a piece of cake.

Where the real 'work' is, is in the Rear Suspension, there are many, many options available here of course, some will privide better results than others, but if you want to retain Mini Like Handling, Ride and overall 'feel' then you really need to retain a Trailing Arm setup, but of course anything is possible.

Anything is possible with enough resurces, but...

sticking all that power through a gear casing intended for 39hp is asking for problems, in the above link there is wreckage from a fairly std engine, let alone somthing with 4 times the power.

Minitec in the states do an AWD kit based on honda CRV running gear and mazda mx5 rear hubs.

A few people on 16v mini club have started looking at using the mx5 rear frame and suspension.

Hayling mini and Allan McD have both built awd minis. Both have done it based on a subaru justy chassis and Allan McD has his Evo 4 space frame mini.

If 4wd minis is your gig, then you need to check out the mental amount of work these guys are doing to achieve that.
