Hi,

I own a 1994 Rover Mini Mayfair 1275 Automatic.

I am thinking of changing from the original wheels and upgrading to a set of super light alloys.

Does anyone know what size wheels I will require?

Also will I need to fit spacers?

Any help appreciated!

Thankyou.

depends what you want, 12's or 13's will fit with the 8.4" disc brakes that you should have. No need to fit spacers, depending on the width you may need to change your arches and cut the wings.

If you go from 12" to 13" you will probably be disappointed with the ride & feel. 12" are better as the tyre wall depth is greater and helps absorb the bumps. They are also better in the wet.

As the other said, what do you want? There is no right or wrong answer*. 10" are best 12" is good and 13" is considered by most to ruin the classic handling.

Also consider the rim width. Too wide a wheel (6-7"+) and the steering becomes heavy. 4.5-5" is best and 5.5" is ok. 6 &7+ serves no appreciable advantage for a road car.

IMO if you can't fit 10"over your brakes or you just want larger then 12x5 with a 165/55 is the smart option. You can fit a 165/ on a 5.5" rim (and many do 'because they like the look) but really its to narrow a tyre and ends up looking like this:

You can fit whatever you want. Getting tyres to fit is another issue. How much bodywork you might need to cut away depends on wheels and if lowered.
