Hi folks, i want to put 10" wheels on my gt, ive got the wheels so i need to change the brake disc etc. currently ive got mg metro turbo vented disc & four pot callipers. Ive been looking on ebay & can find only one complete kit, which is the best route to go & what is gonna give me the best braking? ive seen a few brands for the drive flange & the disc, which is the better brands to go for. id like a bit of confidence when braking. Id appreciate your advice

First off do you know if you have Metro or Mini hubs fitted? If you have Metro hubs it's would be advisable to swap to Mini ones as I'm not certain Mini calipers will bolt to them correctly and the geometry isn't ideal for Minis either.
If you have Mini hubs fitted then this kit will be more that up to the job for road use and is very well priced. Clicky

Hi Metro four puts wont fit under 10" wheels, you will be lucky if you can get stick on wheel weights inside the wheel rim without touching cooper s calipers (its very tight)
From experience going over to Tens you wont regret as its a much nicer ride (softer less bumpy too)

Thanks for your knowledge, im not sure what hubs ive got but as ive got MG metro engine & brakes i guess so but ill have to check. That kit in your link is cheaper than the one i was looking at, thankyou for that. So if i need mini hubs now, do i need any specific ones?.

Thanks, hard or soft ride it has to be 10"wheels, I know absoloutley jack s**t about mini mechanics, just know i want to have mine made to my taste,
catching up on a childhood ambition i think, but good to know it will be a nice ride, thanks

One way to check if you've got metro hubs is to look for any grease nipples around the ball/swivel joints. No grease nipples means you've got metro hubs, if there's grease nipples there they're mini items.

You need the 7.5" Cooper 'S' set-up. They are fine for any and all road use so long as the discs and pads are top quality.
The Mini is a light car and those brakes are as good as anything. They are used in long-distance FIA Group 2 historic racing and in historic rallying, and on the road you will never give the brakes that much hard work to do (if you do you won't have a licence for very much longer!).

Thanks, whats the cooper 's' set-up, is that different again from a normal 7.5" mini brake setup. Ive noticed the green stuff brake pads are they the best pads?

The Cooper 'S' set-up with 7.5" discs is the normal 7.5" arrangement as that was standard.
Green stuff are not the best pads for 7.5" unless you are going to drive gently. The very best pads for 7.5" discs are the carbon-metallic pads as sold by Mini-Spares, or Mintex M1144 pads, both of which are excellent. If being used for competition it is best to use AP600 racing brake fluid instead of DOT4.
