Seam Sealer On Plug Welded Lap Joints.

I thought it might be a good idea to run some seam sealant on the inside of one flange just before assembly of lap joints to help seal the flange joint before plug welding. I'd be covering in zinc primer before assembly too, but wondered if this would be considered bad practice for some reason. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Why not just do it after ? And if its in the welding area , then yes , extremely bad practice .

It will just burn up with the welding.  So no....not a good idea...

And quite possibly contaminate the weld , weakening it .

Bad idea, the above answers pretty much covers it really. once welded up force paint in where possible then seam seal. followed by waxoyl or similar.
