Illuminating Switches

hi guys.... 1st post, have just got a F(88/89) mayfair. named her "lotti" loving the fun of owning one again & cant wait to attend some meets.. after some advice please,

on the 5 switch bezel - do any of the switches illuminate ?? as mine dont & its a nightmare at night.

They should, pry the switches out carefully from the top and bottom, there should be two wires on the sides of the switches

This is correct, they do not illuminate when the switch is off(like a modern car would with headlights on)

when they are switched on ... they are not lit up.. the previous owner, was fixing her up as a project but gave up. im wondering if hes messed things up behind there :-(

Hi, welcome to the mad house :-)

 

As Cal844 suggests, pry the switches out. You should see a few wires and plug like this:

The two loose wires should connect to the side of the switch like this:

thanks guys .. have checked them and they look the same - just a bit lost as they dont light up when the headlights are on.. sorry if im sounding like a right noob.

you can by a kit to light the switches when the headlight switch is on
