An 075 battery is an 075 battery like an AA battery is an AA battery, it will fit you don't need to measure it.

The swear filter is here for a reason.

Mine was a different battery to that but i had to cut the little bits of angled plastic off the bottom for it to fit.

Just bought one of these and it dropped straight in, perfect fit.

I had a small 38ah battery in that worked fine, but wouldn't power a decent turnover in the cold. First start in the cold will be tomorrow morning, so am hoping this will pull the amps for an easy start!

So, it was -5C this morning, but felt much colder. 'Old Blyty' had been out on the road all night exposed to the wind and frost. The frost was so thick it had started to crystallise upwards like glass shards. This, I think, makes for a decent test of the new battery. Got in, choke on, no throttle..... It took less than a second for the engine to spring into life, no problems at all. I then put the blower on, the lights on, and the rear screen de-mister as I went around the windows scraping off all of the very hard ice. The engine was on high idle for the whole time and stayed very stable. Got back in with the temp gauge half way to normal, pushed the choke in, and a perfect idle resumed. No chugging or glow from the battery light. I think my alternator, which is the original from 1978, produces relatively low ampage compared to the modern ones (maybe someone could chime in and confirm that view?), so I'm very happy with this result. It also seemed to drive much better, smoother somehow, or that could simply be my mind playing games on me! Lol!

Just wanted to show that this battery can be sourced much cheaper than what I paid at Halfords. I was happy to pay more so that I have an easy route should I need to fall back on the 5-year guarantee. Not sure how tough this would be to chase from an EBay seller, but I guess there would be some route to chase the guarantee from the manufacturer? Just my preference of course.

A 78 car would have had a 16ACR originally bit late for a 11AC with the separate regulator, so the 16ACRs output would have been 34amp, but most now pre-82 are fitted with the more powerful 17ACR which in standard form are 45amp, and well up to the job of coping with the electrical demands of the Mini in standard form
