Having trouble fitting the shoes and springs I put the springs on but its pulling the shoes outwards? I have 3 types of springs what ones do you use on each one? My mini is s mk1 drums all round. Thanks Tom

The springs should be fitted between the brake shoe and the backplate.

 

If you have the springs on the outside face of the brake shoe they cause the shoes to cant at an angle.

Hi yes that's what they are doing. ile try behind. Are the springs the same top and bottom or do you use a different one on the bottom? Any one got a picture how they suppost to be? Cheers Tom

What front brakes do you have?
Very early Single leading shoe or the later Twin leading shoe type.

Front is the early type I think. it's a 63 model front drum brakes thanks tom

I have got the brake adjuster on the bottom of the back plates both sides have I got the plates the wrong way around and the adjuster should be at the top? Thanks tom

God sake I've done it all wrong! Now it's going to be a pain getting the wheel bearings back of the shaft they was hard to get on.

on single leading the adjuster is at the 9 o'clock position when looking at the backplate as though you are the road wheel.

Yeh they are single ones One cylinder. The rears I have the wrong way round? Cylinder at the bottom? Adjuster at the top? Cheers Tom

Yep Rears have adjuster at the top, cylinder at the bottom.

Dam it! All that today and now got to do it all again. I can see me ripping the bearings out now and getting a new set... Any way of getting them of easy? Cheers tom

Shouldn't be a problem getting the hubs off without damaging the bearings. Can you remove the 5/16in bolts and turn the backplate to the correct orientation without removing the hubs?
