Hi all, finally got the chance to bring my mini home to restore. I bought it as a project in 2009 and then kids appeared and work got in the way but I now have the chance to do something to it.

Not sure if it will ever get finished or not but got to try. I dont really have a clue what I'm doing but there is lots of info on here to help.

A tight working area but its better than nothing, hopefully will put a roof over the area soon.

Looks in good condition mate, is there must rust on it?
There's plenty of information on here and if you need any help you only have to ask and someone will help you out

Worst bits are the flitch panels. Little bits on the Scuttle, Drivers a panel and both sides by the rear subframe front mounts. Door posts, pillars. Roof and rear end is all sound. Some rust on the floor but it looks to be mostly surface rust. Obvious is the front end missing. Cant decide whether to fit a new steel front or a flip front as was planning on doing most of the welding myself but never done any welding before ?????

Done some work the last couple of days, removed front subframe/engine and rear subframe. Stripped off everything still bolted on and started to strip it back to bare metal.

What is the best way to protect the bare metal before painting, I'm working on one panel at a time and the car is currently stored outside under a tarp.

You could always do a metal flip front? And the lip at the bottom of the car is that at the bottom near door??

Yes the lip runs along the passenger side under the door and rear quarter panel. The section under the door is fine and the rest of sill is solid, it's just this s section under the rear quarter panel. I think it has a rubber trim strip on it? ??

And so the dream has ended. After having it home for a few days, the sheer scale of the work required and the expertise needed to sort the bodywork out and rebuild the engine is all beyond my skill level and available finances.

:(

That's a shame :(

Hopefully it will go to someone who can finish it...
