But I just finished work today and it doesn't want to turn at all, can't get 1st stage. Tried what I usually do and nothing.
Steering lock is on, I only have one key,
My question is what should I do first? Try get a key cut.
And if that doesn't do it I read that you can't take the barrel out with steering lock on.
Is this true?
If you can get the barrel out how do I do it?
I need to move the car asap
Thanks a bunch in advance!

So half the time when I jump in and attempt to turn the key I have to jiggle it before it turns.

I had a similar problem with my barrel. It was caused by the black plastic base which the wires connect to,falling out the bottom of the barrel. I'm not quite sure how it stopped it from turning but I removed the steering coloum cowl, pushed the plastic piece back in and taped it up. Worked absolutely fine and got me home.

I walked there 20 mins ago and managed to start it!
Hopefully can just replace barrel now and get a spare key!
Would still like some info,
Thanks

The keys are usually double sided, sometimes taking the key out, turning it over and trying again can get it going, but maybe a new Ignition switch and keys might be in order.

This ^^^^^^ and it's usually worse if you park with the wheels not quite straight ahead.Have you tried moving the steering wheel as you turn the key? Most times the steering lock is on and you're fighting against the mechanism to release the pin which can cause adverse wear,
