1275 engine, running a nikki twin choke carb

I am rebuilding my mini as a rally rep.

I really want a works center exhaust and was thinking about custom building one. I want it to be throaty so was thinking of using a cherry bomb center box and a cherry bomb back box. I would then modify it to have a 1.75 diameter center up swept pipe.

Link to the center boxxes I would be using.

Would the performance be effected if I use a 1.75"dia link pipe but  2"dia center box connections then returning to a 1.75"dia tail pipe?

Cheers guys.

I would just get the centre part of the RC40 pipe (not that expensive and put a generic centre exit box on the back. This is pretty much what I had with my 1330 GT. It was throaty as anything but could get annoying. I managed to set a car alarm off with it... O_O

I have currently got a rc40 center exit but it is a large bore. was thinking of getting a side exit rc40 and cutting the tip off the backbox and re welding it as a center exit upswept.

Rally cars always had centre exit exhausts to reduce the propensity for the transverse rear box on side exhausts to get damaged on rough roads.

Twin cherry-bombs would be much noisier than a rally exhaust which has to pass strict noise checks.

You can buy an exact replica of the BMC 'works' exhaust systems, although a popular alternative is a twin-box Maniflow system with 1.75" pipes.
