Hi, Is it worth fitting negative camber bottom arms to my 1972 850? Im going for the classic look, it is running on 10" 4.5" minilites, hi-los and new std avon cones, the shocks are new but std, also have a set of adjustable tie bars, and polybushes. Really appreciate any comments. Can buy a new set posted for £35. Are there any markings on them to say they are 1.5 negative? Cheers Mart.

If you fit a set of the 1.5 neg camber arms I would recommend using the standard type for road use. Really helps to sharpen up the handling.

I have seen some stamped '1.5' but not very obvious, and others with no markings. If you're getting a pair the arms I would recommend are the Minispares ones.

ust remember 1.5 bottom arms make your camber 1.5 more negative setting your ride height is important 0.5 to 1.0 degrees negative is usually good for road use. As carbon said the minispares ones are good use their uprated offset bottom arm bushes. and for the tie bars poly on the inside uprated rubber on the outside minispares sell them in pairs so you can do this.

It rather depends on how you intend to drive it. If you want ultimate road-holding then 1.5 deg neg lower arms are ideal. However, if you just want the car to feel nice on the road with accurate steering and good turn-in, then the offset lower arm bushes from Mini Spares enable the camber to be set equally on each side with a small amount of negative camber.

An 850 with 4.5" wheels will be a super car with real 'retro' Mini driving feel. It will also have good road holding and predictable handling.

Perfect!! Thanks for the advice, off to minispares tomorrow, Im lucky its only a 25 min. journey to Potters Bar. And I get my TMF discount!! Last time I was there the guy in front spent 400 quid, I told him about TMF said it cost 5 quid to be a + member and he could have saved 30 quid on his spares!!! Cheers Mart.
