Has anyone ever used this site to buy a car? It's full of potential buys yet I find some have been for sale for years and they've been sold (some quite embarrassing phone calls to sellers). I'd have thought they remove cars once they've been sold but it's more like guess work to see if it's still available.

I bought a car off it a while back, like most sites you have to be careful. There are more than a few scammers on there and Its common to see pics nicked from an ad and appearing a couple of days later. But as long as you use a sensible amount of care that's not a problem.

I've not bought, but I have sold through both this one and carandclassic.co.uk and I think carandclasic is the better one

It's fine I've used it to buy and sell, they just don't seem to purge their old ads very often.

I prefer to use www.carandclassic.co.uk as it's more active and up to date.

Matt.

I've had a couple of cars through that site. And as you said, after a couple of awkward phone calls, i then learnt to check the posting date of the adds. I narrowed myself down to posts made in the last 9 months. Any later than that they have either not sold them or sold them a while ago

Yes I gave sold a few on both of those sites as well, not really had any problems other than the usual shipping scams....although I did have one buyer from Thailand that wanted his young daughter to collect it that I was convinced was dodgy and turned out one of my best sales.....

I always forgot to take the cars off when they are sold as well, I tended to use the site when I wasn't in a hurry to sell, so you would just let adverts run for a couple of months

I wouldn't be embarrassed to ring older adverts though. Could get yourself a bargain and if not, might prompt these people to take down out-of-date ads!
