Hi all , can anyone please help , when i start my mini up from cold using manual choke its smoke's like a train ( blue smoke )

as soon as i push the choke in the smoke goes .If i keep the engine running with choke out the engine will die .

the engine is a 998cc with 1275 head and twin su carbs

Any help will be gratefull

Does it use any oil?

Are you sure the smoke is blue and not black?

What Colour are the plugs?

yes it does use oil , but also has a leak

the plug are black tips

It could well be a combination of worn valve guides and seals and running rich on choke washing the oil from the bores.
