Hi all,

After a few opinions i guess, I have recently had my engine bay painted and ive tidied it up a bit with new hoses and a few new shiny bits. Im really happy with how its come out, so much that im now going to get my bodywork treated and a full exterior respray.

Thing is, my engine bay is now black as the car is currently all black, and ive had red and chrome bits put in the bay to tidy it up. However now that im having the car resprayed, im debating changing the colour.

Id like to keep black arches and a black roof, that way I can keep the engine bay black as its only just been painted.

So im just looking for suggestions on colour really, and types of paint, when i asked in a paint place about colours, I asked for a look book to see what kind of colours were available, turns out its a minefield of different paints, colours, finishes etc, i was totally bamboozled.

Whichever colour i pick needs to go with black red and chrome as i have black and red interior also.

What colours are already out there on minis with black and red interior?

any suggestions welcome....

I think you are slightly limited with regards to the interior.
The roof shouldn't be an issue, a mini with either white or black roof and nothing else always looks good.

I personally wouldn't be picking red as getting it to match the interior can be difficult and can come across as a bit too much red. If you went for a different red paint that didnt match the interior then it would look a bit odd,

I personally would be looking at a dark green, that with a red interior could look very nice like this elise for instance:

yeah, i agree i dont want it to be red.

hadnt considered green i think ideally id like purple, but i dont think purple and red would go, so i was thinking monochrome would be my only real options, black, white, grey.

Ford ST Orange is nice on a Mini - it will go with the black definitely.  Not so sure on how it would look with the interior though!

I would say avoid lairy colours as Purple or red will just look a bit too much with the red.

Why not go for a colour that really takes your fancy and then modify the interior to fit with that?

Ah, but you drive round with the bonnet down, so it will only be an issue if you want to show off your engine bay at shows etc? :D

yeah thats true enough, but i dont think id be happy knowing it clashed. haha....

ive also got a spiderman comic dash, so i think the orange would look a bit weird with that too.

its giving me such a headache because i cant see it till its done and cost means i need to get it right first time.

Smoke grey or a nice yellow would both go with a black and red theme.
