If it's a single HS4 carb then buy yourself a fresh gasket kit A new jet and float needle. I cleaned mine by simply taking it off the manifold, taking the lid off the float chamber and cleaning inside, new needle and float also, then cleaned the main throttle-body, replaced the jet, re-oiled the dashpot and re-assembled. Takes around an hour max, if you're fairly intuitive you'll be able to figure it out as you go along. If you do a goggle search there is probably an in-depth step by step guide out there however.
Edit: Use carb cleaner, its available off the shelf from motor part retailers.
