Hi as the title says I'm in the process of stripping the floor and arches of all underseal,at least I'm trying??
I thought a wire cup brush would knock it off, no problem. But not to be, any tips would be appreciated
Jim

Heat gun and scraper, followed by white spirit (lots of it).

can be a bit more messy but can make it easier to scrape off, Depending on the type you have, I found it easy without heat.

Always use heat, without it just makes life harder than it needs to be. As long as you are gentle it just softens the underseal and the scraper just slides under like butter. Then finish off with white spirit. You need plenty of rags as its a dirty job however you do it.

I prefer thinners to white spirit, keeps silicons to a minimum for any painting/priming etc that will follow.

My floors were the original greeny colour primer followed by a thin coat of black underseal which had gone crispy and flaky so it just scraped off with a scraper and then washed it down with thinners so i guess i was lucky.

In your case, i would gently warm it with a heat gun and scrape it off then wash it down with thinners afterwards.

It is a long winded and dirty job, you just have to be patient to get the best results.

Good luck

Ben
