I am undoing the choke cable on the mini and i cannot feel a nut to undo on the dashboard. I can feel what feels like a washer with a square flat bit of metal on but i cant spin it that far around any help please? :whistling:

The late ratchet type choke cable is held by a push on clip rather than a nut, that flat plate you can feel is the tab to pull it out. Each end of the switch panel is held to the dash with a small nut that you can feel behind, if you release these you can pull the panel out which makes it much easier to do the cables.

Thanks is there a way to get this clip off without undoing the panel because if i know the mini well enough if i take the panel out it won't want to go back in :)

Another method is to remove the lower dash rail padding, this then gives easy access and view
