I want to up-rate a few things on the Mini, mainly bulbs and wipers.

Bulbs because mine are a little on the dim side, mainly with this weather all the road muck reduces their shine. I just want to know what the best bulb i can go for, I've got H4 bulbs fitted, not sure on wattage.

Wipers, Is there anyway to fit better wiper, I've got the generic chrome ones, but they don't shift water particularly well. Any ideas on whats best?

And finally, this is just for convenience, when fitting a heated front screen, is it as simple as plug and play (with the addition of the required loom) or is a better Alternator required?

Thanks!

High quality bulbs will make all the difference on their own without needing any fancy aftermarket solution. I use Bosch bulbs in standard lamps and they work a treat.

Hook arm wipers with proper wipers will nearly always be better than the chrome types. You can even get 'aero' wipers that fit the Mini hook arm wipers.

Heated windscreens are basically plug and play but you do need a loom as mentioned. WiredbyWilson makes plug in looms for them on request. I dont think he charges too much either. Regardless, current draw wont be that high so you probably wont need a new alternator unless yours isnt charging well.

Time to get some new bulbs! Do you know of a maximum safe Wattage to run or is there no such thing?

Theyre all about 55W. Its the quality of the filament and bulb overall thats a big factor. Halfords bulbs are cheap and low quality so the light isnt as good and is more scattered. Bosch bulbs are usually quite good. Philips are often very good.

I've been told that Nightbreakers bulbs are the dogs dangles. I've bought some for when I fit I new lights.

I have some on my mini and yes they are the dogs dangles, such a whiter and brighter light with a far better range on them

as above hook type wipers are best (theres a thread about land rover ones in minichat) Bosch s11 wipers are the best I think.

I get my headlight bulbs from powerbulbs ... They might agree to give TMF+ extra discount if asked ...
