Making a saloon into a pickup?

this mite sound stupid but is it possible to change a saloon into a pickup using new panels? or do they have a longer wheelbase? of so could i use a van?

the pickup is loosly based on the van, but the tailgate arrangement is completely different and yu have the difficulties of separating off the cab from the rear...

as for doing it from a saloon, would probably be easier to make a stepside pickup with a wooden back end on a chassis.

the pickuup, van and estate are all longe than a mini saloon, you could make one i suppose but the side pannels are 100 quid each, tailgate is like £120, and dont ask about the bed of the pickup.
to make these fit you will need to exend the floor as well though, you can get the floor extension piece from most pannel shops, looks like this floor extension
