I Understand this is not a question about a "proper" mini but i know a few peeps on here drive MINIS... so the power steering got heavy which is common and i replaced the pump! but the BL@£dy thing is still heavy, tomorrow i will remove the track rod ends from the hub assembley and see if the wheels turn freely! anybody got any ideas that may help?? Apart from sell it, burn it, or scrap it! I know this is a Dull Question on the miniforum but its my girlfriends car and its stopping me working on my lovely beige city e. lol

Is it a reconditioned ps pump as it is not unknown for the replacement to also be faulty?

BBA-Reman give a 2-year warranty but I have heard of a few that failed 'out the box' on the MINI forums, although BBA-Reman replaced them after testing to confirm.

MINI power steering is heavier than most small cars to give a more sporting feel but should not be so heavy as you describe.....is the pump whining or does it sound completely dead?

Lots of info on the pumps here but you have probably seen most of it:-

Was replaced in 2012, supplied by Bba, so when it failed again I sent it back to them (lifetime guarantee) they tested it, said it was ok but sent a new one anyway.....
