Got my louver after years of waiting for an original.

One problem - no fitting kit.

Has anyone dealt with a Perana Louver before? I have a feeling all I need to do is tuck it under the window rubber and create a few spacer type pieces, but it would be handy to see if anyone has a comparison, even to the autoplas fitting kits.

I will get some pics this evening. It has two vertical metal struts in the underside for rigidity; and two plastic push clips on each side which presumably click to the missing spacer/plate bits.

Any input if highly appreciated! Thankyou.

:)

Oh you absolutely awesome person! Thankyou a bazillion!

I was about to write the long shot chance of it being a south african thing and having no hope.

Well chuffed now!

Glad to help out where I can  =]

I took pictures of the four pieces that you'd need. As you can see in this picture, the two upper pieces fit over the metal rods and then slide underneath the windscreen rubber to act as a hinge :

The two lower pieces hook over the windscreen itself on each side, lining up with the small lock tabs.

This picture, albeit bad quality, shows the proper shape of the items, to give you an idea :

I hope this is what you were after? Let me know and I'll help where I can.

Thank you Jared! This is a big help indeed. I am looking to draw them up on a 3D cad file and get a 3D printing company/cnc lathe chap to see if he can make a replica. It's a big question, but if you found a moment of your time, may I ask if it would be possible to get a photo with a tape measure in the pics so I can see approximately the sizes of those clips at all?

Do you know if the Perana company still exist in South Africa, or if they have anywhere that sells the old stock clips like Autoplas do?

They seem to be stupidly rare from what I have read, at least outside the continent.

Not a problem  :-) I'll have a look at doing that tomorrow for you.

The company doesn't exist anymore. The parts are very hard to find here, let alone overseas. Even the louvers themselves are very hard to come by. We're lucky to have one or two spare clips for it.

I thought as much haha, so maybe I need to superglue it to my rear window to stop thieves!

Mind you, I might even be the only one in the UK with a Perana mini louver!

Sold my soul to the Devil!

I bought it off a guy here. I wanted one for a very, very long time but they never really popped up. And when they did, there was always something iffy like cracked gills or missing clips etc. And they are always Autoplas.

The remakes are not as good, I think they look cheap. So I just bit the bullet and made an offer to the chap over christmas for this Perana one. Spent hours trying to work out more about it but kept going in circles. It cost me £80 in the end, bit of a ringer stinger for an incomplete louver but my needs are complete  :D

I'm still confused how uncommon they really are everywhere - are they highly prized in SA then?

Sounds like it took quite a bit of effort to get then!

They certainly are. Some guys don't know what they have, so let them go for peanuts. Other guys simply don't get rid of them at all. And it's not just for the Minis. Other ones like for the Cortinas and older Corollas etc. are very sought after!

I wonder how a louvre would affect the aerodynamics though... (have an autoplas myself, but removing it as I go back to original..)

Sorry about the delay. I took some pictures for you. The tape measure is probably not quite in the right place (was doing it all on my own, so not that easy ) :
