Hi All,

Life is getting in the way of me re-building a Mini Clubman that I bought last year so, with the potential of a move overseas, I may sell it as is and wondered if you fine people could help answer that perennial (and often annoying) question - what do you think it is worth..

Details:

* 1977 Mini Clubman 1100

* Mileage showing as 77k, but last few MOTs have that mileage!

* It drove well (80 miles from London to the South Coast on it's last trip), but failed MOT on some corrosion so was sold to the guy I bought it from, he then did the following..

* 99% of welding done, including new front panel and new sills (properly done, he cut away years of botched oversills)

* Engine stripped down and rebuilt, though not 100% back together

* Underneath she was stripped, re-rusted, coated in 2x coats of Jenolite, then three coats of black enamel paint

* They made a start of a colour change to red, so interior and engine bay are that colour - I was going to change this

* Overall body is in good shape - needs a few small dings etc sorting, basically close to needing final prep before a respray

* Both subframes in good condition - rear is built up and fitted, front is not installed so I currently move it around on a trolley I put together for the front

* Carb rebuilt professionally

* Head skimmed and valve seats changed for unleaded fuel

* Comes with front seats from a newer Mini and an unmatching black rear seat

* Original front seats here too, but pretty manky and a horrible colour

* Headlining in place, but I'd put a new one in personally

* I have boxes and boxes of bits which would probably just about complete the job - many refurbished.

* I bought 4x 10x6 Mambas that I would include for the right money

Definitely needs:

* Love!

* Interior - carpet, door cards

* Wiring loom

* Bumpers

* Prep and paint

* Re-assembly

Edit: Please note that the car is garaged - it was washed just before some of the photos were taken, hence the water inside!

I'm really in two minds whether to move it on, or mothball it for a bit of fun in the future - I bought it as something to mess about with in the garage on a cold, winters night!  I don't really need to sell it, so if it's not worth at least close to what I paid I will probably store it away.

Would really appreciate your input on its value in the current state, so thanks in advance for your time.

Cheers,

Stu

Still completely torn as to whether to shove it on eBay or give the rebuild a crack!

They become sought after.

I think you must have a price in your mind for her ?

I wouldnt sell it if it doesn't reaches that price.
Or nearby.

If you have the space to store it why not keep it, as investment purposes. And if you dont need the money

Thanks for the reply, Freaker.

My main worry with keeping it and not progressing is that all the good work (in terms of the welding and repairs) will slowly start to be undone - she is garaged, but even so.

The price I have in mind is basically what I paid for her last year.  I didn't mention that price above as I didn't want it to influence peoples thoughts :)

Cheers,

Stu

I bought my estate around this period in 2008 and only got it true an mot on the 31st of december last year.

It stood under a carport at my mums for a few years and outside on my drive for the last year and a half.

I worked on it i between work, kids and house.

I sold my saloon, project and my van also a project. A,d decided to keep this one a sthis is somewhat special for us.

I would say let faith decide, put it up for your price and see what they say. Somebosy comes along and pays the price sell it. If they dont keep it and store it away...

Thanks for your input everyone.

I think that I'm going to keep it and have a go at the rebuild - unless anything else changes.  I'll have more enthusiasm once the garage is warmer :)  Plus, reading this thread has inspired me:

I've got a build thread so keep an eye out for updates.

Cheers,

Stu
