Hey All,

I recently purchased the ex-Chris Evans mini, and have started the process of tidying it and getting it ready for the summer.

It needs a few bits, but as I've not owned mk1 before I’m not sure what is standard, what is missing and what are additions from previous owners!

To start with the front grille is the 9 slat wavy type that is a bit twee for me, so I’d like to replace.

Having a look round the web reveals that there are a mix of 7 and 10 (?) slat grilles on cars from the same era.

As this car mimics a Cooper, what would a car from that period have been fitted with?

Any pointers gratefully received!

Cheers,

Trundler :D

The wavy one is for a non-Cooper Austin. The Austin Cooper had the 10 slat grille and the Morris Cooper had the 7 slat one.

Great stuff timmy850 I'll get buying!
The grille maybe the original as this car was originally an 850.
More questions soon... :-)

Hi Trundler

I was standing next to this car when you bought it. If I had registered for the auction you would have had a fight on your hands!!

I am very jealous but also very pleased for you.

Will you be attending any shows with the car this year?

Kind regards

Mini Phil

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the slack response time! i've been working away a lot and the car is stored away from home.

However i have plenty of photos to put up and a list of bits needed is slowly forming.

I will try to attend some shows, I used to go to the mini show at Stamford Hall every year about 20 years ago! :-O

(is this show still on?!)

This car attracts the right attention, makes all the right noises and feel quick. i can't quantify how quick though as the speedo is jammed!

more soon... Trundler

Nope there is not much to do... a few things are missing, and there's a bit of rust that might need attention.

Plus a few bits to fit; lamps, new grill, possible a rear reversing light etc.

There is a plan to get to some shows, but I been crazy busy until now.

The car is in storage, and has had light use hoping to have more time in the coming weeks!
