I've been looking at running 10x4.5 steel wheels over Cooper S brakes. My question is, are "reverse rims" actually the same as the 4.5x10 Cooper S steel wheels? There are so many pictures on sites of wheels claiming to be Cooper S 4.5x10's and some are listed as "reverse".

Nope they are different, They have a different offset. Reverse rims will fit without arches cooper s won't.

Other way around Alex, reverse rims are a wider offset the standard S wheels. 

 

These are 4.5" Cooper S wheels. A reverse rim uses the same outer hoop but put on backward to make a deep dish wheel.

I've got a set of reverse rims for my car. They fit perfectly without arches with flat drum brakes front and back. You'd definitely need arches fitted if you used them with disc brakes.

reverse rim has a lower offset, i'll figure out how much more it pokes by.

Just checked, 10x4.5 reverse rims have an offset of ET16 but the 10x3.5 standard wheels from the 60's have ET 29 and the 70's ET24.

 

This would mean the reverse rims will extrude by 26mm over the 60's 10x3.5 steels and 21mm over the 70s steels.
