hi all
with the mini showdown approaching fast i have only just realised that i havent got room in my car for the folding chairs i was going to take, this due to the 3 iother people in the car, my question is could they just be securely tied to the roof through the rear windows with rope or similar. obiviously it can be done but is there any traffic laws stating this cannot be done.

but then again u can drive down the road with your boot open if securly tied like when u have been to get a plank or wood thats mega long.

if anyone has any other suggestions they would be appreciated.
cheers

Do it, if its securely fastened and not poking out or anything they shouldnt have a problem. May leave stratches or dents though if your not careful.

I ratchet strapped a bonnet to my roof (on the normay car) to move it to a mates house, didnt have any problems, left some large scratches and a big dent though, just to add to the collection.

Get sommat between the chairs and the roof and, so long they are both very secure, there's no law stopping you having them there.

You might get pulled over, but once the officer sees that they perfectly secure, he'll give you a funny look and say "on your way"

Personally, I wouldn't do it as it will probably dent ya roof and it is a bodge-up

Tie them in a row to a long piece of rope and trail them behind you :)

well its for when we get back to the camp site, but the weather is meant to be real nice so shouldnt be a problem anyway.

Get better folding chairs that will fit in the boot?

It really is illegal to drive with the boot open by the way. The roof thing is dodgy ground as well. A copper could easily be of the opinon that 'secure' means 'in a roof basket'.

If you do do a bodge job on the tie to the roof, then you gotta think.

If its just throught the rear windows then it might look like a strange hair piece moving at fast speed (all lifted and flapping in the wind at the front).

So you would need to tie the front down too (depending on the size of chair).

Anyway good luck. :)
