I am trying to determine if my 1974 Mini 1000 turn indicator switch is faulty.  I presume that the switch in a Mk III car is intended to operate the high beams, and the car has no floor mounted dip switch.  The switch lever has a spring-loaded high beam flash position (rearward), but it does not have a detent for selection of low beam/high beam.  The part number on the switch is 119 SA.  Is this the correct part number for a Mk III?  Is the switch faulty?

I would say the plastic overthrow ramp has broken inside the switch between dip and selecting main beam, there is usually a positive selection to ensure the actual contacts remain tight, without the contacts will burn and melt the switch assembly.

Cheers again mate!  I'll order a new one.

I found this wee bit near the switch when I removed it.  Do you reckon it's the bit you mentioned?

Thanks Dave.  I've added a new switch to my list of parts to ordered.
