At the moment Iv got a JVC headunit and a pair of kenwood 6*9's in the parcel shelf, this set up doesnt seem to provide a great deal of sound quality was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I was told that having the 6*9's in the parcel shelf then this would provide a fair bit of bass, i just seem to get distortion long before this point.
Cheers

There are a few things that could cause distortion. I usually find that 6x9's on the rear shelf always sound better in a mini than any other car. You do not mention what headunit or what model speakers you are using. If the headunit cannot provide the wattage the speakers need then they will distort quite badly at high volume.

Many people believe you should buy the highest wattage speakers money can buy and then put them on a head unit which gives about 20watts rms at the most. This will only give poor sound quality. You could amp them up to improve sound quality.

Also are you using half decent speaker cable?. I find that the speaker cable (ie the stuff thats usually fitted as standard) and even some that is supplied with the speakers is very poor quality and its worth getting some decent ofc (oxygen free copper) cable from a car audio shop.

Its also worth noting that if you seal the boot area up as best you can this will also improve sound quality especially the bass from shelf mounted speakers.
